Problems in setting up ehome router- please help
Hi there! I have an ehome router which I used before with other computers in a different country. Now, I moved out so I want to use it again but with other computers, so the address is different. I tried to set it up, everything is going on well, all the lights are lit, but when I try to set it (that is, to go to the setup wizard, with the ip 192.168.0.1), “the page cannot be displayed”. Can you tell me what the problem is and how I can solve it? Does this mean that if I already used and set up the router once, I cannot set it up again?
Thanks!

Hi:I would say we need quiet a bit more info about your environment.
Answer as many of these questions as you can, then we'll see what the problem may be.

The “Johnwill” need to know about your environment questionnaire:

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
What is the expected Upstream/Downstream speed for your ISP Connection?
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms? Have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way? Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?

If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands:

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I lived in Canada before, it’s where I bought it and set up first. There I managed to set up the router for a wireless connection for two laptops which were running Windows vista. It is true that at first I had a problem as regards the ip address of the router, because the manual’s was 192.168.0.50 and on the cd, it was 192.168.0.1, which I checked on the internet and was the correct one. Btw, I was not given and installation cd, just a guide one. Now I live in Romania. My internet provider is RDS, I called them to see if I need any permission from the company to install a wireless, and they said that I only needed to set up the router. I do not know the connection speed (I am a computer illiterate), my modem is a Thomson and the router is an EH100. I have cable connection, and my computer is running windows professional. Internet browser: internet explorer.

I have tried a direct connection with a cable to my desktop, and then to my laptop, using a cable, as well…nothing.( I am trying to connect with a cable, and after the connection is done, I will connect wirelessly. ).Then, to see if the router was the problem, I connected again directly to the modem and it was working..actually, I am using directly the modem now.

I don't get it.
First: if i connect my routr to my modem all the lights in the router( power, status, wan, wlan, local network 1) are lit and on the modem: cable activity, cable link, pc link and internet are lit.

if I go to start/ run/ cmd and type ipconfig/ all i get the following message:
Ipconfig is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file.

Post e-Home routerless
Andrea- try poking a paperclip end in the small hole next to the power receptacle. It says reset and will do so.

Now the bad news: My router will not respond either and so far no solution.

If I get it going I'll post here.
