Solved: Problem with ADHOC network.
Hi Mods,

I am having a problem with regards to my toshiba laptop with windows vista installed.. whenever i try to connect it to my acer laptop using adhoc network.. it recognizes the connection but only has "Access: Local Only" as .. but if i use the the acer laptop with windows xp to connect to the toshiba laptop.. it works perfectly..

so basically the connection of my network goes like this..

modem is connected to my acer laptop. and i'm using an adhoc network for my toshiba laptop to connect to the network..

here's the tcp/ip v4 settings of the acer laptop with windows xp.

IP Address: 169.254.7.30
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

and here's the tcp/ip v4 settings of the toshiba laptop with windows vista.

IP Address: 169.254.7.31
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 169.254.7.30

Preferred DNS Server: 169.254.7.30

oh yeah. as i was writing this post.. the connection of the toshiba laptop became "Limited Connectivity".

hope you guys can help me.

On siderophobic disable ICS, make sure the wireless connection is dynamic ('obtain IP auto'), and then re-enable ICS. Show another ipconfig /all if this doesn't get ICS working.

i've found the solution.. seems like the firewall on ESS is blocking it.. anyway, thanks
