Hi! This week I encountered a very mysterious problem with the internet connection of my desktop pc. While download is fine as usual, upload is slow at best, not working at all sometimes. Surfing is nerve-wracking, download speed of files is as usual, however some internet speedtests don't even manage to upload 32K files for test purposes and report upload speeds around 2 kbyte/sec.
The problem is not related to my ISP since my laptop doesn't have any problems with the connection (using cable and the same router). I have also tried instaling a PCI LAN card, same problem arises. I have tried using an other cable. I have tried using Ubuntu and here a strange thing happens. The upload speed is lower than with my laptop but still nowhere near normal levels. I have tried using safe mode, same problem.
I have run a hijackthis diagnosis and there are no possibly dangerous entries. The internet connection is also not blocked by malware since NetSpeedMonitor reports 0.00 KiB/s upload speed when I (try to) perform an internet speed test.
Of course I have also searched the forums. My problem seems to be identical to
this one (unsolved).
Other observations:
Firefox and IE have the same problem.
Some internet pages don't even load (GMAIL)
Skype seems to have no problems with the internet connection and can even upload files at fairly normal speed!
My specification:
Windows XP nLite (only tweaks) with SP3
Motherboard: MSI P6NGM (VIA; don't buy this one, it sucks, but it has been running for one and a half years now)
AVIRA AntiVir, newest version
I appreciate any help! Thanks in advance.
