Hi Guys

I don't know what to list this under as the whole computer is affected. I'm running Windows XP Pro.

I get the "the requested lookup key was not found" when I try to install any programs. I get that when I try to open Google, Microsoft entries etc. I ran the system disk on repair and used the Dell program key but now it says to validate. It won't go into validate because it comes up with " the requested lookup key ---". I keep getting Microsoft error popups asking to send or not. I click send and it offers to give me more details. When I click on that I get "the requested ------". I scanned with Trend Micro and Malwarebytes and no problems show. I tried to download Hijack this but I get the popup " the requested-----".

Any Ideas?

1) open ur registry editor(start > run > type regedit) > enter
2) then go to following location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
3) under this change the key installed from 1 to 0
4) Then reboot your machine.
you should be able to reinstall IE or Firefox

That deleted ie6. I rebooted and tried to download ie7. It went to the microsoft download page. I clicked on download and got my popup "the requested lookup***". I tried ie6 with the same outcome.

Please don't stop. I'm ready to try anything. I have checked this in Google and there are a lot of people having this problem but no answers.
