DNS Error?
Well recently I've been getting this problem that sometimes when i try to load a site I get the message DNS Error - Cannot Find Server.

I'm using Firefox and I will get this problem in waves. Sometimes my internet will work fine and other times I will get this message repeatedly. If i refresh enough times it eventually works but it's so frustrating.

I'm running Windows Vista SP 2. I connect with a wireless Netgear USB adapter. Recently I tried to get a static IP for gaming and i got the message

"Warning: Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a
single network such as and Intranet or the Internet. They will not function
properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks (such as
one on your intranet and one on the Internet). Do you want to save this
configuration?"

I ignored it before and my internet worked fine but recently i've been having these DNS problems. So i changed my IP settings back to assigning me a manual IP on it's own but it still happens. Can anyone help?

Leave the IP to automatic but assign static DNS servers. I suggest the OpenDns servers

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

It won't let me do that, If I don't select use custom IP then i can't input DNS. Should i use my static IP with those DNS servers?

Yes. Post what you are using an IP, subnet mask, and gateway.

Ok, that should be fine. Go ahead and use the above DNS servers I provided with your static IP and see if that helps.

Note that your network settings are in two parts. Your IP address and yor DNS servers. Leave the top one set to "Obtain an IP address automatically". Change the bottom one to "Use the following DNS server addresses. Then use the ones provided to you by srhoades.

Alternatively, if you have access to the router, you can change them there.

Follow the instructions at OpenDNS for Windows and configure to use OpenDNS for your DNS server.
