 | Senior Member with 107 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Experience: Intermediate | | how can i access computer behind router with no access to port forward I finally got a connection with VNC through SSH with 2 pc's on my local LAN. Now I need to control a PC that is on a different corporate network. Problem is, I don't think we will be able to forward port 22 to the particular computer that is going to run the ssh and vnc servers. Without having administrative access to the remote network, how can I initiate a connection from my local machine to the remote machine? | | Senior Member with 1,412 posts. | | Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: The Pitt, BC Experience: Omnigeek | | You can use something like TeamViewer ( www.teamviewer.com) - install the server portion on the remote machine, and it makes an outgoing connection to TeamViewer's server... you then run the client on your end and connect via their server. | | Senior Member with 107 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Experience: Intermediate | | that is a good solution, but unfortunately it is very expensive for commercial use | | Moderator with 96,644 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: South Eastern PA, USA Experience: Advanced age & experience | | It is pretty expensive, isn't it.
Take a look at UltraVNC Repeater, an add-on for UltraVNC, that might do it. This one is free. | | Senior Member with 107 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Experience: Intermediate | | thanks, i'll look into it | | Senior Member with 1,412 posts. | | Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: The Pitt, BC Experience: Omnigeek | | You can use the "commercial" license of TeamViewer for free for 15 days, to see if it works. | | Senior Member with 107 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Experience: Intermediate | | i would like to find a purpose-generic way to make the connection, just so I can use it for other services if i need to
(still have yet to try the repeater) | | Distinguished Member with 14,983 posts. | | Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: 1265 Lombardi Ave Experience: IIAHYAYCESA,YAADA! | | VNC Repeater still requires a port to be forwarded in MODE 1.
Mode 2 would require the repeater being in the DMZ or have ports forwarded as well.
Since port forwarding is not an option for you, you really don't have any options. | THIS THREAD HAS EXPIRED.
