Will gigabit switch help?
I have a gigabit switch that connects my servers and connects to a second 10/100 switch that connects from the gb switch to 10/100 NIC client computers. I need to replace this second switch and want to know if a gigabit switch will be a benefit with the "bottleneck" between the switches since that will be gigabit, or will everything still run at the slower speed?

If you are still going to be using the 10/100 nics,
then that is going to be the network speed.

Actually, the gigabit switch will help, since you are removing one key bottleneck. Each client will still operate at 100mbit, but now all of the traffic for all clients is channeled through the 100mbit secondary switch. Replacing that switch should help with the performance of this network.
