Solved: unidentified network Vista
i have a new hp laptop which cannot access home wireless network. 2 other laptops currently can access the home wireless network.
router - Speedstream 6250
Wireless Adapter Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN
If laptop is connected directly to Router via cable with Anti virus software off. Access to network is possible.
wirelessly the network is visible but Access shows as Limited Connectivity abd Ut sgiws as unidentified network.
Have upgraded adapter software from Intel - no change.
IPconfig shows blank in the 2 fields Connection specific DNS Suffix and default gateway.
Any ideas?

Top suspect here is mismatched encryption keys or MAC filtering blocking the connection.

Turn off all encryption and MAC filtering on the router and see if you can connect. Also, remove all the stored wireless network profiles from the laptop, you'll want to search for new networks.

Thanks John
MAC filtering was not turned on. So that was not the culprit. I think the issue was encryption related. We purchased a new router and now all 3 laptops connect to the network.
Thank you for your suggestion.

Odd. I was going to suggest the broadcast flag fix for Vista, but it normally affects wired connections too...
