wireless connection drops
My wireless internet connection drops every couples minutes and ive tried everything I know to fix it and so far nothings worked. It is connected to a netgear router and there are a couple other computers connected to the router that are not experiencing any problems so ive ruled out that possibility. My pci card is also netgear and im running vista X86. when my connection drops the netgear smart wizard still shows a green light with great signal strength so i know to signal is not the issue. it is only the windows network manager
that shows the dropped connection. I've tried updating drivers, disabling all other firewalls, un and reinstalling drivers, changing the network settings, running various virus and spyware programs, resetting the router and modem (even though i don't think that is the problem). So any suggestions would be appreciated.

re: wireless connection drops
have you tried checking your wireless network card because the same thing happened to me and i found it was faulty, but if that doesn't work try to disconnect from the internet and connect again or just try and reconfigure your wireless network card or check if its your windows vista compatibility for your wireless router,

regards.

are the other 2 computers also wireless?

Is your computer with wireless dropping a PC or a Laptop? If it is a Laptop does it drop all over the house? If you move it around I mean?
If it is a PC can you try it in a different location by moving the PC( A pain I know but just to test).

My point being is you may be affected by wireless interference in one location. If the Netgear router is a 802.11G or B wireless then this operates at 2.4Ghz and can be upset by Cordless Phones, Baby Monitors, Intercoms, Microwaves etc, etc.

Any channce to relocate the failing PC next to a working one? Or move one of the PCs that works to the same place as the failing PC to rule this interference theory out?
