Unable to create dial up connection in Vista
I am trying to set up a dial up connection, but it would just say the setup cannot create the connection. When i query the modem in the device manager, its working properly. anyone got any suggestions for solution?

Do you have a dial-up modem installed?
Is it connected to an active phone jack?
What software are you using to establish the connection?
What are you trying to connect to?

Yes I do. An Agere Systems modem which i believe is internal and the "Standard Modem" which is the BlackBerry modem thingy that i'd like to use.

I think answer to that would be no. Its connected using a USB cable to the Blackberry

Software: just the Vista dial up connection setup wizard

of course the internet.

You connected a dial-up modem to the mini USB port on a BlackBerry? Not only have I never seen a cable that makes that type of connection, I have no idea what you'd do with it.

uhm. . . if you're thinking that the connection i've is from the phone jack to the mini USB on the blackberry, then NO, thats not what i've done. the mini USB is connected to the USB on the laptop.

If you want to tether a Blackberry, you must have Blackberry Desktop Manager running along with Blackberry Device Manager (in the system tray).

Who is your Blackberry's service provider?

You're not creating a standard dial-up connection. Both the model BlackBerry you have and your cell service provider have to support tethering.

Instruction for setting up this connection vary by model and provider.
