Trouble connecting to public wireless Hi there. I have a decent grasp of most tech stuff, but am totally clueless when it comes to networks and connections.
I have recently (past two months or so) been unable to connect to wireless networks in public places on my Inspiron 1420. I have tried at my school, at the library and in coffee shops to no avail. Wireless is fine at home.
My computer can detect the networks and claims to connect to them, but I cannot access the internet via browsers, iTunes, messenger, etc. When I run "Repair" I am prompted to reset the network adapter. It then claims that the problem is resolved.
When I run connection diagnostics under the Dell WLAN Card Utility, I get "failed" for the Gateway IP Ping test. I don't know what that means.

None of that really makes sense to me, so please inform me of any glaringly obvious solutions.
