Smile wireless drives me crazy!!!
i have chorus broadband
a client has chorus broadband
his acer connected to his wireless fine...and so does his flatmate
then his computer crashed
i reinstalled it...it connected to my chorus (same wireless cisco router)
and wont at his house...just doesnt get ip address...searches for ages...
1) How is this possible?
2) Is resetting the cisco router the next likely move?

Its a bit embarrassing as i dont have an answer for him...and he doesnt seem to understand
how it was working and then after a reinstall,isnt...(and i mean a clean reinstall)

...to tell you the truth, i dont really either...

Well, most likely you have the wrong encryption key for his configuration. Remove ALL the stored wireless network profiles and try to connect to his network and enter the correct key.

thanks for your answering me john...i always value your opinion highly.
but remember that it was a fresh installation...and i was using windows zero to configure
the connection...so there are no profiles

when i installed the drivers previous it wouldnt let me put a-z only 0-9 in the key
value...wierd

thanks again

Well, if you're using hex keys, which is the only reliable method with WEP, you can only use 0-9 and A-F in the key, the 16 hex characters. If you use passphrases that are comprised of other characters, they don't always get translated the same way.
