Exclamation Sharing Internet connection b/w a Desktop and Laptop
Okay I have this:
1. A Laptop with Wi-Fi
2. A Desktop without Wi-Fi card
3. An ADSL modem with Wi-Fi and 4 RJ-45 jacks

Now I can use Internet with connecting my Laptop to my modem via Wi-Fi.

I can use Internet on my Desktop via the RJ-45/Cable. But I am not able to use internet on both machines simultaneously.

Now:
1. I want to know how can I share my internet connection on both machines.
My ISP is BSNL (India) and it require a username and password to connect to Internet.
2. Can I share files without buying any extra equipment?

Please reply as soon as possible.
Thanks!

it sounds like
Quote:
An ADSL modem with Wi-Fi and 4 RJ-45 jacks
is an adsl router and so it should all work fine

Post back the make and models of all your kit
Quote:
My ISP is BSNL (India) and it require a username and password to connect to Internet.
That is usually entered into the router - so not sure ...... need to know make and model

also post back an ipconfig /all from the machine when its working

unless you ISP has done something which only allows one device to connect ...

{ipconfig /all}
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all

-> Start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all
post back the results here

TWO Methods to do that - if you cannot access the internet with PC, then use method 2 to copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Method ONE -------------------------------------------------------------
start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Method TWO -------------------------------------------------------------

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

IPCONFIG /ALL >C:\RESULT.TXT

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

------------------------------------------------------

That looks like a good connection to a router. Is that the PC with the internet access?

Please show the other one also so that we can compare/contrast.

Yes; since, as I understand it, this involves being able to connect both PCs to the router but getting internet access on only one I think we need to see the ipconfig /all for both machines.
