with the PC connected to one of the LAN inputs on the router
do the following

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

IPCONFIG /ALL >C:\RESULT.TXT

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

are you logged in as an admin on the PC
Note the spaces
between the
ipconfig and /all
also
/all and >

you could do this

start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then open notepad and click on the page
control key + V to paste

Now connect up to the modem
and paste here

I don't how or why but the wireless router just came up and everything seems to be OK for now thanks for all your help. I guess you could mark this as solved Thanks again and have a great day
