Limited Connectivity Problem
I own a Fujitsu notebook running windows vista. I have DSL internet through Verizon and use a Westell modem/router all in one. I haven't been able to connect to my internet for the past few days. I am able to connect to the router it seems but internet is not being broadcasted. I have two roomates who can both connect to it without problems and get internet so I know its a problem with my computer solely. This problem arose immediately after I uninstalled my Mcafee Antivirus program. It says I connect but that I have limited connectivity. I have tried everything to fix this:reset modem, system restore to a previous time, updated wireless adapter driver, called ISP and computer manufacturer, etc., so this is my last resort. Here is my ip information: Please reply i am in desperate need of internet for school.

I don't see anything in the previous link that will solve this. Try this stack reset first.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or Windows 7.

Start, All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, each followed by the Enter key:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

After that, I'd like to see this.

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work. Also, the < and > in the text is to identify the parameters, they are also NOT used in the actual commands.

Do NOT include the <> either, they're just to identify the values for substitution.

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 74.125.45.100

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. (For Vista/Win7, the IPv4 Address)

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

The DNS matched the data of the default gateway(192.168.1.1) so I basically performed the same command twice. I don't know if this is normal but here is the data:

Run the McAfee Removal Tool.

If still no go then run the TCP/IP stack repair options again.

Something is seriously nailing your network, most of the pings get dropped.

I just downloaded a new driver two days ago and still no go. What could be screwing up the PING? I know its something thats wrong with my computer alone and not the network cause my roomates can connect just fine.

I really do think the problem comes from uninstalling my virus program. I actually have Symantec Endpoint Protection not Mcafee. I have found similar cases of my problem throughout the internet. Does anyone know of a Symantec Endpoint Protection removal tool?

Try the Norton Removal Tool, it removes a wide variety of Symantec products.
