ok so I have a Sony Vaio laptop that runs Vista and just recently got a linksys wireless router, model WRT54G. So I connected that router to my at&t modem (Motorola DSL Modem Model 2210). I previously connected that at&t modem directly to my laptop and it worked fine (I'm doing that now). But when it is connected to the wireless router, my laptop recognizes the linksys connection but it has an error page when I try to open the internet. I really don't know anything at all about computers so I thought I'd give this a shot. Thanks :]

Did you remember to power cycle (unplug for 30 seconds) the modem when switching from computer to router?

For a connection to the router please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
