Just to go back again to the beginning
Quote:
With the router powered and the PC OFF, sometimes the "i" lite & the one below it keep flashing rigorously for a long time.
and compared to page 2-8 of the manual I posted
What lights are flashing with your PC OFF ?

not sure which way up you have the box

but the i light is internet and will flash GREEN if activitity data transfering
light each side
One is the wireless light - which is ON or OFF
the other is a test light tick mark which should be ON or OFF

OK - so thats what we thought
and we have suggested ways to turn the wireless OFF

i then asked on post #14
Quote:
what went back to disable - the secruity or access point or both ?

if you apply the changes, does the wireless light go out ?
and you replied
Quote:
all I changed went back, & the LED never comes on.
So does the wireless LED come on at all now ?

and is it actuall flashing or a reflection or spill from another light

etaf,

I must have completele confused you.

Forgeting everything said so far, I have been happily using this PC & the AOL BBand with the router they gave me for 2-3 yrs.

By chance one day (2-3 wwks ago), the PC was switched OFF but the router was left Switched ON, & I noticed 2 router lites flashing, but not the "i" & "#2"(my PC's ADSL) as when I am downloading thngs.

This happened when I left the router ON, & Is not doing it now because it is not left ON.

So if my PC was OFF & the router was active, I became concerned whether the router was wireles after all, & an outsider was using it.

Because of my ignorance on these things I confused everybody and am now closing this discushion.

Very many thanks fro trying to help me.

Regards, .......nick
