im on a 20000/1000 mbs adsl2 plan but when i run a internet speed test it says its only 3.94 mb

does using 2 filter splitter slow down the speed?

It can if you have the modem line plugged into the filtered socket.

I think he meant that if the telephone socket is already filtered (some apartments that I have been to has built in filters in the sockets so an external filter is not necessary.)

Well, since the modem does NOT require a filter, and won't work with one, I hope the apartment hasn't filtered all the phone jacks!

This is what I think he was talking about.

A line splitter with one filtered and one unfiltered socket so you can have both a phone and the DSL use the same wall socket.

The DSL line itself should not be filtered. Having the lead to the modem plugged into the filtered socket marked PHONE could cause problems.

If you do not need the splitter to be able to plug in a phone into the same wall socket, plug directly into the wall socket with the modem lead.

Well, that's really the question, isn't. it. Again, the DSL modem does NOT use a filter, and that DSL/HPNA jack comes straight through that adapter, which is my point.

my filter splitter is like this

i only use 2 so i can use 2 cord to reach the wall socket and the phone line is connected to the filter splitter unless i should plug the phone line straight to the wall socket since its close

my internet speed randomly is at 5.56 mbps now
i called the isp all they said was all these factors the exchange and how much people use it in my area

That's a common issue with an overloaded ISP, not much you can do about it.
