Linksys G 2.4
Hi folks - First, thanks for taking a look and any help you can render is greatly appreciated.

I set up a Linksys G 2.4 wireless router about a year ago to network with two Dell laptops and and old desktop with a wireless router plug in. It's worked fine until about a month or so ago.

Constantly tells me it cannot access the primary server etc. I reboot the router using the on/off and it's back up and running again.

Not sure what I did to have this disruption.

Please take a look and let me know if any additional information is required.

Thanks again!!!

Well, it appears the router is getting lost.

Some things you can try here, listed in the order you should try them.
  1. For wireless connections, remove all the stored wireless profiles and search for networks. You'll have to enter the encryption key again, which is sometimes the issue for connection problems.
  2. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  3. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  4. Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.
  5. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  6. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

Thanks!
I've done a few of these, but I'll run down the list and see what happens.

Will let you know.

Thanks again!

Talking Pedroguy
Yes indeed they are.

The two laptops that are linked and a desktop.

I didn't have any problem with all three being online for nearly a year or so. Although it doesn't take all three. A single laptop online often will either not get online or have the connection disrupted or otherwise terminated. This requires powering down and up the Linksys.

I've tried any number of ways to correct this and so far no luck.

Is is possible this router simply is not functioning correctly? Perhaps time for an upgrade?

Thanks for your help!!!

If you're truly done all those steps, I'd be router shopping.

Shopping
Mr. Will:

That's kinda what I was thinking as well.

Perhaps it is time to peruse the local aisle and purchase another.

Thanks to all for your help. This site is invaluable!
