Re-installing Router
I have a router that I lost the installation CD to. I went to the Netgear Website to download the software and did so. My next problem was I forgot my password to access the network, so I once again went to the website which told me to reset my router. I did, and followed a forums instructions on how to set up the router thru a link, the only problem was my connection kept re-setting before the installation was complete.
Next I tried something different on the same site that killed the wireless connection I had.

So now My router is still not installed, and I have no idea where to go from here.
My router is:
WGR614V9

I think the 'connection resetting' is when the router is doing its thing, so when the information is reset to default, the computer loses the connection because the information is not valid.

download this PDF manual and go to the section entitled Manual Setup and follow the instructions there.

If you are using a wireless connection to configure a router you have to be aware of the disconnects that are going to occur, and be ready to start over if you mess up.

Virtually all router manufacturers recommend you NOT use a wireless connection for configuration for obvious reasons. I suggest you connect with a wired connection, it'll be a lot less frustrating.
