i am going crazy...
ok i just tried to set-up a home wireless linksys network. i am using an older model router that i have had for several years. the router is a wireless b usb network adapter. its a 2.4 ghz 802.11b model # wusb11 ver. 4.

i am able to get into the router and reset the old configurations, but the problem is, when i type in the new WEP code that i enter through typing in my isp and accessing the linksys router, my laptop is not able to enter the network. it identifies it, but cannot connect. now, when i disable WEP encryption, my laptop is able to access the network...unsecured obviously. all i am trying to do is secure my network while allowing my broadband internet access to the laptop. i am so confused and have tried everything. i have a vista OS...very troubled and any help is appreciated. thank you.

also, if i am able to fix this, will i be able to make a wireless connection to my ps3 with my wireless linksys adapter? thank you.

modem is a motorola sb5120 surfboard

OS is vista

Use a hex key, not an ascii passcode, because some devices translate the passcode differently.

Vista seems to have more trouble with WEP than earlier Windows versions, especially with older routers. Make sure you have the latest firmware for the router. If you update the firmware then reset the router to factory default settings and reconfigure it.

Make sure you have the latest driver for the Vista's wireless adapter.

Instead of WEP use WPA-PSK if possible.
