Solved: Need to bridge my moden and router
Just finished connecting a new dsl moden (Zyxel P-660R_D1) and router (linksys WRT110). Everything works fine. I added my Sony LF-B20 LocationFree Base Station and it worked great on the network but I couldn't connect through the internet. When I checked the connection I got the error message: "could not connect. The error may be caused by the use of multiple routers". Talked to Sony and they told me I needed to bridge my moden and router. They said to contact my ISP for instructions, however my ISP (Earthlink) wanted another $8/mo. and a new long term contract - no thanks. I changed the system mode on the modem from routing to bridging but then I lost my internet connection. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks!

First off, you have two routers, not just one. Small wonder you can't connect through all that.

If you bridge the ZyXel, you'll then have to configure PPPoE and your account name/password in the WAN configuration of the Linksys router. If you don't reconfigure the Linksys, you will indeed lose the connection.

Once the Zyxel has been bridged, which specific settings on the Linksys need to be changed?

Probably, as John said, "you'll then have to configure PPPoE and your account name/password in the WAN configuration of the Linksys router." The WAN configuration will need to match whatever the WAN configuration of the router portion of the Zyxel was.

Basically, you change the WAN access to PPPoE, and you enter the account name/password. Hopefully, the VCI/VPI values are standard, if not you'll have to get those from the ISP.
