Unable to enable ICS (error)
I am having the same problem as many others have had but the solutions do not work for me. Enabling firewall (alread was) and trying to enable services - nothing works for me.

http://forums.techguy.org/networking...g-problem.html

An error occurred while enabling internet connection sharing
(null)

Is the message I get in a window when trying to enable ICS for my LAN connection. I have a Netgear DG834 Router which is what I am using and want others to be able to connect through via mains power adapter. Since some program has disabled ICS on my LAN adapter I can no longer enable it and receive the above error message.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I have tried everything so far and now am trying to think what else other than a clean install of windows would fix this.

EDIT:

I am using two ZyXEL PL 100 Ethernet power adapters to connect this main computer LAN network to one other computer. It fails to detect the other ethernet power adapter at the other computer but when I bring a laptop here and connect it directly to my Netgear DG834 Router (using an ethernet cable) it works perfectly! So does this mean the Internet Connection Sharing would not make my ZyXEL PL 100 Ethernet power adapters work even if I was able to enable ICS? Wireless connection (using a different router/modem) works fine too but I don't want to use wireless for this connection. ZyXEL Pl 100 Ethernet power adapters used to work fine...I am not conviced anything is wrong with them because the lights flash on them and a link and ethernet connection is made but not detected in the ZyXEL Pl 100 Utility, to me it looks like it is an ICS issue still. Also in my Netgear DG834 Router no other device shows up (under Attached Devices) as being connected but this is because no other device connected has Internet access. Let me know what you think. I am not a networking expert so need help. Thanks.

You don't use ICS with a router in any normal configuration. The fact that the power line adapters aren't working is a totally separate issue.

ICS is not going to solve this, it'll only screw things up!
