I Get Disconnected from Wireless Router Every Minute
I just bought a Netgear Wireless - N 150 Router and after setting it up in the same room as where my laptop is I constantly get disconnected. However I placed a Wireless Card in the desktop in my house and that computer never gets disconnected. I don't think its a problem with my laptop because I go online wireless at every other place and it works. PLEASE HELP ME OUT. THANKS

So a New Router - before everything Worked OK
wirelessly
1) you laptop disconnects - but works fine on any other netwrok
2) you desktop works fine and never disconnects

Do you have secruity on the wireless if so - log into router and remove that first - see if that fixes the disconnects to start with as a test ....

if still disconnecting with secruity off
change the channel the wireless uses in the router , choose 1 or 6 or 11

if still disconnecting
do the following tests - 1) when its working and repeat when disconnected
{ipconfig /all}
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all

-> Start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all
post back the results here

TWO Methods to do that - if you cannot access the internet with PC, then use method 2 to copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Method ONE -------------------------------------------------------------
start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Method TWO -------------------------------------------------------------

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

IPCONFIG /ALL >C:\RESULT.TXT

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

{Ping Tests}
Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Ping google.com
Post back the results

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Ping 209.191.93.53
post back results

Could the problem be because the router or modem are not connected to a computer? do they have to be connected?

No - you should be able to just use wirelessly
Although any changes made tothe router settings should be done with a PC connected by cable to the router

BUT
is this different to how you had it all before ??

actually in the room the pc is at there is a problem with the wiring or something because a Comcast support guy said so, so I put it at a different room.

But the desktop is now connected wirelessly by the card you installed and has no problem and does NOT disconnect at all now
Correct?

can you post the test when working and again when disconnected - that would help isolate the issue easier

the channel should be in the same screen set on the router as the secruity - you changed
