Question Solved: Constant "A network cable is unplugged" notification
Hello, I've been searching up and down for a solution to the issue I've been having with my network for the past couple months now with no luck, and I'm hoping someone here may know what the issue is...

Here goes, after moving 3 months ago and switching from a cable connection I had for years without issue, and going to Verizon DSL (after ironing out all the bugs I had with it in the first place), now my computer constantly loses it's local area connection, with the icon showing in the bottom tray saying "a network cable is unplugged." I know I have no issues with my modem or wired router as my Xbox360 doesn't lose connection. Whenever this happens I have to go into network connections and disable and enable the connection before it connects again, then it doesn't last long before it does it again. I've tried changing out the cable, so shouldn't be a bad cable. Tried switching firewalls and playing around with settings with it, no luck. Is this the sign of a bad NIC? Or more likely some system settings deep down somewhere (which I pretty much have no experience with)? It's driving me nuts as I can't get anything done!

Thanks for your time and pleaseeee help! =)

open registry editor and navigate to the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\
Network Connections and make sure in the DATA field there are no single zeroes(0) not (0x0000000) for each entry.
if thats fine, uninstall your network connection, then reboot and let windows reinstall it

If the machine connects at times and then loses the connection, the strong indication is that it's probably hardware. Have you changed the port on the router or switch that it connects to? If so, and you've changed the cable, it's looking like it may be the NIC.

I tried looking in my registry and I don't have that path... once I get to Microsoft all I have is System Certificates. Also, I don't know how to uninstall my network connection, when I go into properties and select TCP/IP it greys out uninstall?

check to see if your WZC is even started...control panel>Admin Tools>Wireless Zero Configuration ...make sure startup type is set to AUTOMATIC and that the status is STARTED..try even stopping and Starting it again..then try to connect.

Tried uninstalling my NIC thru device manager, and rebooting to reinstall it and no luck... guess I'm trying a new NIC when it comes in from newegg. And Jdennis99... it's not a wireless connection, thanks though.
