Super Connection Problem + router
Alright, so let me start by introducing myself, my name is Justin. Im pretty computer savvy, and I am not bad at figuring things out for myself, however, this problem has been costing me some time! (going on a week now). Heres the problem, when I connect my modem to my router, I dont get internet! I know your thinking, reset your modem and router, or both but ive already done that. Still dont work. Now get this, when I have it hooked up, and try to access 192.168.1.1 I get the error "192.168.1.1 is taking to long to respond." So I cant get in my settings. BUT, when I reset my network adapter, immediately after I can access the settings but about 2 minutes goes buy and wham, takes to long to respond. Everything was working fine a few days ago, then out of the blue here comes this little ol problem.

My power light on my router is NOT blinking, ive done a hard reset, ive disabled the adapter in CP and enabled again, and im just fresh out of ideas.

Anyways, heres my info:

Make and model of modem/router/pcs

have you tried updating the network drivers on the machine
How many PCs do you have connected to the router and do they all work ok
have you tried disabling the firewall on the PC

The router is a Wireless G LinkSys WRT54GS, and I posted my comp specs up there ^. I have 1 computer, and a playstation 3 connected to the router, all wired.

Tried disabling firewall, nothing.

What are you calling a "hard reset"? Did you hold the reset button for 15 seconds with power on the router?

Yes. Also I have held reset button for 30 seconds and while holding the reset, unlplug the router, let it sit for 1 min, and plugged it back in.

At the very least it sounds like DHCP is not working in your router. Give yourself a static IP in the 192.168.1.x subnet and see if you can ping the 192.1681.1 and access the router log in.

If you can't ping it I suspect your router is toast.

whos the ISP is thos cable or ADSL
If you reset the router, and did not set it up again for your ISP - it will not access the internet
Hence my question if any other PC was working

You may just need to log into the router and set up all the settings for your ISP
Username and Password - if required
etc
