Well, we actually want to see what is listed under the Modems and Network Adapter section, we know that it's failed. Click on the + sign for each of them and let's see that.

Well, something running on the machine is blocking the networking. This is usually a firewall or Internet security application.

so is disabled my firewall.. and everything started working oh yehh.. im actually shocked it was something so simple. Thanks so much for your help!.. but what exactly could it be that its blocking so i can unblock it and continue using my firewall... thanks again!

You need to look at the firewall configuration, they're all different. What firewall are you using?

Personally, I'd lose it and just use the Windows firewall. There are also a lot of free ones if you feel the need, ZoneAlarm being one of many.

sorry to come back again... but my computer is just being arrogent this week... everything was running perfectly after you fixed the last problem but i jst got a message after re-booting saying

'An application failed to initialise (0xc0000142). Press ok to terminate'

Now that only comes up when I sign into a user, windows taskbar wont load and nothing on my desktop will load either.

Well, that's a totally different problem! Can you do a system restore to before the problem happened?

i prob could... but the problem is.. once i get to the log in screen, type in my password... the error appears.. i get no further than that.. all i can see is my wallpaper and nothing else. and is push the windows button, nothing happens. i can open the task manager tho
