Internet Explorer And Mozilla Firefox Hanging..?
Hi, Recently i don't know what is but randomly sometime during surfing the web it will just stay on the loading button and never load up. Its so annoying and i tried everything to prevent this from happening. I even uninstalled my anti virus to see if that helps.

I see alot of people have this problem so hopefully someone can shed some light on this situation.

This happens with both Firefox (3.5) and IE (8)

Thanks

Ethernet, wireless or both? Separate router? Modem/router combo?

I guess I should really just say, Please describe your network and how things are interconnected.

Try with an ethernet connection to the router to see if this is only a wireless issue or more general.

For your wireless connection please show the following for when things are working nicely and again for when you are having the problem ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Thanks for the reply and the help.

I also think another reason it definately isn't the router is because there are two other laptops connected to wireless in the house and they dont have the problem.

I did your instruction and here's what came up:

The remaining questions from my previous post are whether ethernet works continually and what the wireless looks like when the browsers "hang."

If i understand what you mean, the wireless stays connected all the time and when the internet hangs the wireless stays solid.

I'll assume that means the ipconfig /all looks the same as you posted above.

Does it recover on its own? If not, what do you have to do to get things working again?

When the browsers hang can you ping the router and web sites? If you are not familiar with "ping" you open a command prompt and type

ping 192.168.2.1
ping 209.191.93.53
ping yahoo.com

Success is 4 replies, no loss. You can post the results the same way as you did the ipconfig /all.

It will recover on its own after a few mins then start on its own again, whilst this happens there is no disconnection from the net whatsoever.

Next time it starts to hang ill post you the results on here . thanks

OK, the pings you did showed that, also. I think I now have a fairly good picture of what is happening to you. However, what's causing that is totally murky to me.

It could, of course, be that the particular sites are having difficulty or are very busy.

It could be some security option or add-on or application that is taking excessively long to check if the site is suspect.

It could be something running on your computer that gives problems only sometimes. You might want to try running in Safe Mode with Networking. If the problem never occurs in that mode then there is a process or service at fault. If this is the case you may find some interesting reading in these threads:

The following services have each given at least one person networking problems in Vista.

SSTP-service (secure tunneling protocol) caused one person's Microsoft network products to go slow: http://forums.techguy.org/networking...ml#post5911440

Remote Access Auto Connection Manager caused my Firefox to load pages slowly: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vi...ad-slowly.html

I think i found there solution. Its working better now but still abit dodgy. The problem was a few weeks ago i had a problem inside the laptop and opened it up and must of corrupted then Network Interface card (NIC) so i had to replace the NIC. Hopefully this is the soulution for people who have this problem.
