Just use that DNS value for the static configuration, it forwards to the ISP DNS servers. You have no problem there.

1. Open up a Command Prompt (Start --> Run. Type "cmd" (without the quotes) in the bar). Type "ipconfig /all" (again, without the quotes). Take note of the (IP) IPv4 address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server. Close the command prompt.

2. Go back to Start --> Run. This time type "control netconnections" in the bar. Right-click on your network connection and select Properties. Select Internet Protocol (ver 4) and then click Properties.

Under the General tab, put in the information you noted in step 1. Make sure you select Use the following IP address and Use the following DNS server addresses. Otherwise, you will not be able to click in the boxes.

After you click OK, you have a static address. Congrats. Note: to go back to automatic, all you have to do is click both Obtain boxes.

That may work, but if you have any other devices on the network with a dynamic connection you will probably get a duplicate IP address sooner or later. You should assign an IP that is in the router's IP address range, but outside the Dhcp server's address range. Otherwise, Courtney's advice is right on.

Jason08 is already helping you with the port forwarding in your other thread, so I'll let him (or anyone else that jumps on board) handle that.

I can't really read the info in your screen shot, but if you have wireless and it is not encrypted the other devices are probably the computers of your grateful neighbors who appreciate the free internet access. If you are using WEP and your neighbors are "advanced" or "crooks" they may still be using your network.

You needn't worry about showing your private (Local Network) IP addresses. Nothing anybody can do about them unless they have already joined your wireless network (see previous paragraph) and then they already know them.

Let's see if you did the static IP config OK ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
