Solved: Share over crossover
So I have my two computers connected by a crossover. I just want to view files etc in explorer wired. However both of my computers are wireless and therefore already show up in my network, when I browse through files or try to copy it uses wireless which is really slow and breaks my internet connection. What I want to know is if there's some way to specify that I want to use the wire.

What I'm doing now is Remote desktoping with the IPs I configured for my LAN card and just copying files that way, but there must be an easier method.

why not just disable the wireless connection on one of the PCs - then it cant use that connection, and will use the cable

Or use the ethernet IP address for your file sharing. If the ethernet IP address of the remote PC is, for example, 10.0.0.10 you can view its shares by

In a Run box type
\\10.0.0.10

In Windows 7 you may be able to just click on the Start orb and then type that. Or bring up a Run box by holding the Windows logo key and pressing the R key.

Caveat: If you're currently using the Homegroup to file share, there may be other stuff you need to do to make the above work.

Typing that in the Start menu's search box worked like a charm. Thanks a lot.
