did you enable dhcp? if so, could you run ipconfig /all and post (not attach) the results for us again?

thanks,

v

Can you please tell me how to do that? I looked back through all the replies and all I saw was to enable DHCP but I don't think you told me how. I'm sure you are not used to babysitting a dummy here..................

no worries, mate.

start > run > ncpa.cpl > right click local area connections > properties > scroll down in the white box until you come to internet protocol (tcp/ip) > double click that > tick obtain ip address automatically > tick obtain dns automatically > apply > okay out to your desktop

reboot and run an ipconfig /all again and let us know what's in there.

thanks,

v

is your problem.

try the below, slow it down, and take your time.........

Quote:
start > run > ncpa.cpl > right click local area connections > properties > scroll down in the white box until you come to internet protocol (tcp/ip) > double click that > tick obtain ip address automatically > tick obtain dns automatically > apply > okay out to your desktop

reboot and run an ipconfig /all again and let us know what's in there.
I can't break it down much more than that without screenshots, and I'm running W7, so that may not help you out that much.

well, let's try this.

Quote:
start > run > ncpa.cpl > right click local area connections > properties > scroll down in the white box until you come to internet protocol (tcp/ip) > double click that > tick obtain ip address automatically > tick obtain dns automatically > apply > okay out to your desktop
where it is bolded, I want you to click on the screen that shows your IP address to make the 'active' screen. Then I want you to hold down the alt key and press the prtscn key. Then I want you to go start > all programs > accessories > paint and right click the mouse and paste the pic in there. Click file > save > click the desktop icon on the left hand side of the dialog box > at the bottom of the dialog box there will be the following: *.txt

replace the * with ipaddy and hit enter. then come back here, open the thread, click 'go advanced', click the paper clip, click browse, click the desktop icon on the left, find the file in the center of the dialog box call ipaddy.txt and attach it. Click upload, wait for it to upload (make sure it doesn't error out on you) then click close the dialog box and then click submit reply.

That way we can see what you are looking at when you are looking at the network properties dialogue box.
