Question problems with internet
Well, guys. My problem is't simple. In fact it's a head ake waiting to happen.

For about the last month and a half i've been having connection problems with my internet. Usually from time to time pages will fail to load and will give me an error within a quoter of a second. Some times downloads fail or go very slow. No, i'm not running torrents. This all happens usually at a same time of the day, like a peak or server load issue. When i do a ping test. my ping is some what higher then usual and the received packets is 500 or some times 499, 498. Problem is it only sent 250 packets. So it received double packets. On things like second life it will show packet loss and when i type in IM or local things that i typed actually come up twice. Yes I've made sure this is't a second life issue. On my playstation 3 i can barly sign in around when the page loading usually fails and when i go on PlayStation Home some times it won't load and things don't work like they should. Again i checked and made sure this was't a PlayStation network issue.

So i called my provider up. Told them the issue. Nothing they had ever seen before. They had a tech guy come out and he found something wrong when he did a speed test. He then of course tried to get the problem fixed by letting the higher tech team know. They said they tried some things. But nothing helped one bit. So i called again and they said my connection with them is perfectly fine. Said they had moved me to a different port on the switch. They said it was a server along the connection that i use. Soo then this led me to the trace routing. They basically said it was my problem and i had to solve it.

I've ran about 22,000 trace routes to all kinds of different servers (i used ping plotter). But when i'm having the page loading problem, the trace route shows it's hitting the sever and coming back just fine. So i'm a bit stumped on what this could be. Now i'm pretty techy.. if you asked me to flush my dns no problem. But this is something I've never had to deal with.

So i've come on here asking for help. What could be the problem? If you guys know anything please, share all you know. Thanks.

Seeing as your PlayStation is also affected this tells me that this issue must be with your router and or ISP. Just to rule out the computer shut it off and try the PlayStation out. If it continues to give you problems I suggest upgrading the firmware in your router/modem and trying it agian. This could be a hardware/firmware issue.

During the period when you have the issues, please do this.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

DSLReports

Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Alright i will do that soon. the problem is not happening right now. but i will do it as soon as it happens. which will probably be tomorrow.

as for member lost cause. i have ran a direct connection to my modem. had it replaced by the isp and even reinstalled a new windows 7 on a lap top and tested the connection there. Also i've even went outside on the side of my house where the customer box is and used the modem on that and it still had the same issue.

I will get those results as fast as i can. thanks.

http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2649125

Heres 3 that i just ran for the heck of it:

http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2649413

http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2649410

http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2649416

Problem is't really happening right now. But there are some minor issues that i usually always have. Like packet loss and such.

Now i do see on these trace results that the domain host.lightcore.net seems to have a constant packet loss of 45 to 65 %. Is this normal on these results? or could that be the server giving me all my problems?

That isn't normal, don't know what's going on there. The interesting thing is you have no packet loss on your end to end tests on any of those charts.

Those problems in the ISP network could explain some of your issues like high ping times.

hmm, I've also talked to a few people in my area and they also say they have the same issue. But not everyone has the problem, some don't. Heres a pingtest.net result of what i get when i run a test from there.

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/341...10120938pm.jpg

What's odd is it's sending 250 packets.. yet receiving 500 or sometimes 499 or 498. During the time around 9 or 10 pm my time. I can can't even sign into psn on my PlayStation 3 but things like Skype never have a problem. It's weird. Also i have embarq of course, and Embarq is CenturyLink so ofcourse we have a CenturyLink home page. What i notice is the home page for CenturyLink ALWAYS loads and some other websites load fine to. But very little.

It's almost as if a server along the line of my connection is either messing up or getting to much traffic and the company who owns the server is to lazy to fix the issue. Pretty sad =(

Note i did take my ip address out.

I think you clearly have an ISP issue, the bad news is you'll have to get them to fix it.

Heres the thing. I've called my ISP more then 10 times. Had one person come out and test something. Said he thinks it was a problem with the provisioning. So he went to get that fixed. found out they actually did several things like switching my connection on different ports and a few other things as well. Nothing did anything.

This is really a pain in the *** =(
