Can you connect by ethernet to the router? To the modem directly (if you have separate modem and router)?

While attempting to connect by ethernet and wireless to the router ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

That appears to be a good ethernet connection to a router. Do you have internet access that way?

Disable ICS, at least until you get the wireless working.

Disable encryption and MAC address filtering on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect. If failure, exactly what happens when you try to connect?

When i'm connected with the ethernet it says i am connected but when i try the internet is says the connection is timed out. When i try to connect it says that it has limited or no connectivity, my lap top is right next to the modem.

I kind of know a little about computers but you're gong to have to walk me through the things you just told me to do, super sorry!

How to Disable Internet Connection Sharing on a Windows Computer.

With an ethernet connection try these 3 tests in a Command prompt window and show the results the way you showed the ipconfig /all.

ping 192.168.1.1

ping 209.191.122.70

ping yahoo.com
