Solved: I need help connecting to a website
I regularly use the local library's website to check on my due dates, look up books, etc. This past week I haven't been able to open the library page at all. I checked with them and it is working on their end. I logged on from a different computer/location and it was working fine. For some reason, my computer is unable to open the page.
I ran a tracert on it, but I don't know how to interpret the data returned, or know what to do with it to fix the problem. Can anyone help me?
Here are the results of the tracert

I get an identical trace, so I think this is a firewall or restriction on your machine. I can access the web page fine.

I haven't changed any settings on my firewall or machine. Do you know where I would begin to look for things that would restrict the page?

Well, start by booting in Safe Mode with Networking and see if you have access in that mode.

What non-Windows security applications (firewall, security suite, anti-spyware, etc.) do you have on the machine?

What browser are you using?

I am running windows firewall & avast antivirus, I also have spybot that I run for periodic checks. I alternate between Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. There are still some sites that I have to visit for work that do not work in Firefox.

I tried following the link to the city of Denton utilities quick pay and I get the same thing. A trace of that link gave almost identical results.

I don't have a clue why I am unable to access the user functions on the City's website. I use them all of the time. Just, suddenly I am denied and it says it timed out. I am not sure what that means. This is frustrating.

I tried again, with the firewall and the antivirus off and still could not get connected from this computer. Do you think it would help if I changed my IP address?

I'd say that you might have to contact them and ask if your IP address has been blocked for some reason. If it's not your end, it's apparently their end.

Your IP is on one blacklist.

On that site you want to get more information by clicking on "Click here for some suggestions" and click on "Detail" for any service that has your IP listed. You may need your ISPs help in getting off the list.

The way I read that information that listing should not be impacting you. So, if you contact the library be sure to mention what you've learned.

Terry, my IP address is on that blacklist too! Oh, and I just checked, and your IP address is ALSO on the same blacklist.

That may not mean much.

OK, I sent a message to the webmaster for the City of Denton, now I guess all I can do is wait.

Let us know how you make out, I'm curious how this turns out.

Your "blacklist" entries are the same as mine, AAMOF, I'm on one more. Apparently, that's due to the fact that I use a number of SMTP outgoing mail servers, not just the Verizon one.
