Solved: Having very annoying problems with wireless adapter randomly not connecting
Hey i just bought a netgear wireless adapter and i have been haveing problems with it. For no reason at all i will sometimes just not beable to connect to my router. It can be any where betweem 15 mins up to the last time it happened an entire day that it will stay unconnected. Also it is finding my router and i see it under the wirless connection list it just will not connect to it. Then when i try to have windows find the problem it says something like windows is not recieving information from router. Then it says it can be a low signal problem. Well that cant be since it dosent matter if my router is right next to computer or downstairs i sill get the same effect of having and loosing internet. My OS is vista and my router is a westell. Any help will be very appreciated considering this is very annoying not knowing how long i will have access to the internet and on top of it not knowing how long untill i will have it again.

Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

ok downloading it now....i also noticed right before i lloose internet connetion my internet will go to local or limited acess only then when i try to do something to fix it it disconnects all togethor. Also i notice my internet connects if my router is right by computer so can this be a signal problem? it says tho im at like 70-80% connectivity with router when its downstairs and also says good signal. While having the router close to the computer lets me get on internet it still defeats the purpose of it being wireless ( since only one phone jack in my house gets dsl) so is there something i can do that would fix this? might it be a problem with my router that its not in range i mean its not like its that far away its directly one floor below me

Ok here it is from where my computer and router normally are. Everything looks ok accutally i have internet and that program is showing i have good signal. However i know better than to keep my hopes up so i will keep you guys updated in case it goes out again. Also could it be that alot of clutter and such would weaken the signal? my brother moved back into the house yesterday and had his stuff all over the room my router was in is it possible that could be a cause?

Actually, you have another strong network on the same channel. I'd select channel 1 or 11 in the router, I think you'll find that one of those will work much better.

What's the exact make and model of the Verizon wireless router? Obviously, the settings will be on the wireless configuration page.
