Can connect to router on one PC but not another
I have a linksys wag345G wireless 4 port router. When I connect my laptop via a wired cat5 cable to the router, the laptop can connect to the router (and I can ping the router, and go online to the internet). When I remove one end of the cable and connect it to my Desktop PC, I can't connect to router or go online.

The lights on the router port are green.

I have tried the obvious, turning off the PC, router and restarting, but cant get it to work.

As I said my laptop connects via wired cable without any trouble.

Any ideas?

the laptop (which connects) is XP pro SP2
the PC (which doesn't) is XP home SP2

I have now tried another laptop,(XP pro sp2) it doesn't connect either.

This is baffling me.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, each followed by the Enter key:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
