FireFox: The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.
I am pretty sure i am connected to the internet, the other computers in my house are working fine.

I am using broadband on a windows xp.

When i try to launch mozilla firefox i get the following message in a popup window: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."

Here is a screenshot of what the msg looks like:

What is going on? I try to connect with internet explorere as well but i get "Page cannot be displayed"

So i THINK i might not be connected to the internet. Or this may be a virus idk.

PLEASE HELP

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Type CMD.

Press OK.

In the Command Prompt, type ipconfig /all.

Press Enter.

Copy (right-click and Select All > press Enter) the entire content of that window and paste it into your next reply.

=================================================================

From your working computer, download HijackThis.

Use a USB flash drive to copy the installer.

Plug it into your faulty computer and install the program.

Run HijackThis and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

IMPORTANT: Do not fix anything

Thanks for your help:

For your first action about using ipconfig, all i get is this:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\user>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration

C:\Documents and Settings\user>

My other computers give me a long string of data. For the faulty one, the above is ALL i get.. I think something is wrong.

If your thread doesn't get moved, try reporting it again.

If still no luck, start a new thread in the Virus & Other Malware Removal forum.
