Solved: Question about IP addresses Domains So this one is an odd question and hoping to get some sort of direction so if you have any suggestions, please let me know what you think...
Our company has a few servers, but we are only going to be talking about 2 for this question. A little background to begin.
Right now our company has ALL public IP address, yes ever server/machine has a public IP address. We have finally convinced our bosses to switch ISPs and we just had a fiber installed and is up and running.
This weekend we are going to be working though getting all of the network switched over to the new IP address and we are looking to drop all the public IP address and lock down our network (We have had the FBI/DHS out to our office because one of our machines were compromised and they were monitoring traffic).
So here is where we are:
We have 5 servers, right now all with public IP address and we are trying to switch them over to the internal (192.168.0.#)
So here is my question: One of the servers (Dog_2) is outside of the domain (currently) and is host for our website as well as three other companies website.
Our DNS/AD (Dog_1) server (currently with a public IP) would have to switch (if we want to switch everyone) to the internal IPs.
Is it possible for (Dog_2) to be inside the domain with a private IP and us still use it to host the website?
I hope I explained it well enough, if you need more clarification, please ask away, and as always thanks in advance!
