Sling Box>iPod>TV
I know one can watch their personal tv programs and dvr recorded show on an iPod using Dish Sling Box. But is it possible to hook that iPod up to a (flat screen) tv and watch your own tv programming from anywhere providing you have internet and all the right wires? I stumped a Dish support person by asking them this question, they didn't even know.

You're asking if you can connect your iPod to a TV? That doesn't have anything at all to do with your TV programming provider (Dish).

Here's the article from Apple showing which cables are compatible with which devices.

The sling box is a Dish Network accessory box that I can plug into my Dish channel programming box. It will allow me to watch my personal programming that I subscribed to from Dish Network using a laptop, iPhone/iPod/iPad, Droid etc.. (Using the Dish app on my iPod), as long as I have the Sling Box and there is wifi internet, I know I can watch all of my own personal programming, be it recorded from my DVR or live, from anywhere in the world. This is a true story! If you have wifi, Dish Network Sling Box and a laptop, iPhone/iPod/iPad, Droid etc., this is very much possible, this I know!

My question is, is it possible to watch my own personal Dish Network programming on a flat screen TV through the Dish app my iPod?

Example: I live in the U.S.and I fly to Germany and the hotel I stay at has wifi internet, I get my trusty iPod out and start watching my own Dish programming, then I plug it in to the flat screen TV that's in my hotel room. Can I do this? Can I watch my personal Dish Network programming on that/any TV, through my iPod? Is that possible?

Another example: I travel 4 states away from my home and stay in a hotel that has wifi internet. I bring with me my handy dandy trusty iPod and a small flat screen TV. Can I watch my personal programming from Dish Network on my small flat screen TV, using my iPod?

So I'm not sure where you get that it has nothing to do with my TV programming provider (Dish). I already know that I can watch all my Dish TV programming on my iPod, providing I have the Dish Sling Box and the internet and the right hookups. I think you get the point by now but let me repeat it again. I only want to know if I can watch Dish TV programs on a remote TV using the Dish app on a iPod?

I understood exactly what you were asking, and I posted exactly what you need.

You want to know how to connect your iPod to a television. That physical connection has nothing at all to do with your Dish receiver or the Slingbox. You have to buy the necessary cables, connect them, and open the application.

Thanks for helping DoubleHelix, I do appreciate it! Let me say this, I've hooked up my iPod to my TV many times and tried to watch movies from the Crackle app.on my iPod,it was no go.And I do have to latest greatest iPod hookup wires too. If it were as simple as hooking up your iPod to the TV I should be able to watch anything that's on my iPod, it doesn't seem to be that simple.I should be able to watch you Tube videos or any video for that matter, but that seems to be impossible. Apple doesn't seem to want anybody to be able to do this or they want to make it very difficult to do?

The reason I mention Dish and Sling Box is because as far as know, no other cable company, Time Warner etc., DirectTV, nobody that I know of allows one to watch their very own programming recorded from their dvr or live TV on a handheld device etc.. I understand you can watch movies/shows through Hulu, Net Flix the Crackle app etc..but can it be done from a handheld device hooked up to a TV? I don't know how to do it? But I'm only talking about being able to watch my own personal programming that as far as I know, at this point and time, no other cable TV provider does this.

So you're saying if I can just hook my iPod up to my TV I should be able to watch what ever video, movie, show is on my iPod regardless of what it is? Oh one other thing I would love for it to be in HD?. There's probably a easy way to do this and I would learn more about if I could click on your article from Apple showing which cables are compatible with which devices. But I think you left out the web address or something?

Apparently I don't know what you're asking if you already have cables to connect your iPod to your TV, and you're saying it doesn't work.

Maybe someone else will understand your problem.

Maybe I don't have the correct cable or maybe I'm not plugging it into the correct place on my TV? What I have, I believe, is called a Apple Component AV Cable. One end plugs into my iPod and at the other is HDMI (2 red wires, blue, green and a white) and a usb plug in.

Thanks, You were so non condescending and so informative, you never upset me from the start, you answered every one of my questions too.I never did get to see the web site, that I told you I couldn't view, but that's okay. You could have just let me ramble on about Dish (since you said you knew exactly what I needed) and continued to answer my question and solve my problem. The web site probably would have been a big help.I totally appreciated you trying to help and I meant that, but I guess I was stupid for you and you didn't have time for me?
