Baseball
I love baseball, and frequent the games of the Midwest League's Battle Creek Yankees. I take my Photosmart 850 every night, snap off about 40 pics, and come back the next night with a couple of copies for the players to sign. I give them each a copy of the photo, and they seem to like it. I've had other fans approach me for copies, and they offer to pay, but I don't feel right taking money for them, so I usually tell them if they want to buy me a hot dog or drink that'd be ok. I'm spending a lot of evenings eating for free...lol.

Having trouble uploading.......getting the ol "cannot find server" message. I'll try again later.

Glad you like the picture. I took that from behind the plate using the optical zoom....wish I could give you a number.....then cropped in my imaging software. I was really surprised at the quality of the shots from the 850. People have been asking me if I was a professional or worked for a newspaper. It's quite flattering to say the least. I've talked to the families of a couple of the players, and they just think that's the greatest thing. It brought home to me the fact that these guys are here, away from home, and there is noone to take pictures of/for them for the folks back home. I hope to be able to burn a cd for each one of them before the season is over. In return, they've been really great about posing, and signing autographs for me. I figure it's the least I can do. Plus, if I play my cards right, I may not have to buy anymore food at the ballpark this year.....LOL
Here's another, taken from the first base side......the thing with this is, I have to time it right, due to shutter lag, or I get just a foot, or empty air. I hope to improve by the end of the season.

i'll forgive the screen name but have to agree those are some very cool shots and the way you are sharing with the players/fans is also very admirable. i have to get out and try this speed feature on my new digcam (for sports shots is what the manual says it's for, stop action) also has a burst mode that once the click to pic delay time is up it bursts off 5 pics in the span of about a second, didn't seems to work very well tracking the dogs running around the backyard but it might work better at the ball park, now if it would stop raining................

bring on more pics

jimi...Here's my photo site link: http//photos.yahoo.com/yank7fan
I've got about 40 pics up there right now...it would save a lot of upload time to just send you there.
I'm using the HP Photosmart 850. Bought it in Nov, and man, I'm lovin' it. I'll have to learn to deal with shutter lag, but so far, so good. I hear ya about the rain...here in SW Michigan it looks like we're in the monsoon season.
