Check this out, it's from a 1954 Popular Science. The Caption says it all.

That is just a fantastic memory jogger.
I recall a meeting in the early '60's and remember being told that computers were about equal to the 1910 automobiles when estimates were for about 5000 total necessary because the economy could only provide a limitted number of chaufers. (back then programmers were the only ones allowed to touch a computer.)

Thanks for the memories.... I never saw anything like that... but I lived in those times... where most of us could only see TV in store windows... and had never heard the word... computer... still... they were great times...
