Rescue Animals
Thought a thread for stories & pics of "rescued" animals would be an interesting idea.

Here is Thor. Thor's story is second hand, I can't verify the details but...His previous owner bought him as a puppy and left him tied out in all kinds of weather with no dog box, and apparently (from the condition I got him in) poor food & little or no attention. When I got him he was skin and bones and didn't know how to play, or ask to be petted. He has joint problems that will probably never completely go away. He's one of the sweetest dogs I've ever owned. (even if he is a bit of a "bull in a china shop")

So sweet! He looks like he is part Dobie. I wonder if glucosamine would help him. It helps humans.

Your story is heartbreaking, but its so widespread unfortunately that you wonder if the people who do these things deserve to belong to the human race but there are people out there that work tirelessly to fight this sort of thing....They say men dont cry,but I can tell you I do when I see the cruelty cases on Animal Cops Houston on the TV station Animal Planet....my own dog was a very similar cases to yours, she had been kicked out onto the streets and was being eaten alive by fleas, she was terribly dirty and matted and even now after 12 years she wont let anyone touch her front legs for some reason even though the vets cannot find any reason why,she never even made a sound for 6 weeks,I was beggining to think she was mute...with care and attention she gradually improved and has given me 12 years of love and affection ....thank you for caring and good luck to you and your dog

And here is the portly old lady now .... thats not a tooth by the way on her mouth, its a speck of dog biscuit ....

Yep he looks just like my Thor only shorter and bulkyier. Dogs of that color combo are very suseptable to parvo when puppies. Mine is a Pavo survior. He also was in very poor condition when I got him but he is a very happy pony now. I just hope I can find a place where i can keep him when I move. He will need to be kept in the garage when I'm not here.

He sleeps on my feet everynight. Will get some new pic's soon.

Plain Yougart mixed with their food helps calm the tummy

This one speaks for itself. It's Kirby in his cage at the SPCA just before he decided to adopt us.

This is Thumper that we got from the pound August '04 to replace our pup that died from unknown cause after investing a fortune in vet bills.

Thumper had been picked up with an unset broken leg- the pound vet had rebroken it and casted it but said about a 30% chance it might need to be removed if it didn't heal. Thumper had not been abused, but had been left to fend for himself and was underweight (7 pounds) and uncared for.

He is now healed-(only runs on three feet when he is in a hurry) and turned into a wonderful companion, although only goes outside on a leash- he is still a runner and won't come to a call.
