I assume it is poisonous!

Yes it is Poochee:-

The Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) - sometimes referred to as the Common Eastern Brown Snake is the world's second most venomous land snake, native to Australia.

Yes me too Yvonne, I'm a bit paranoid about snakes and dogs because we lost our beloved Beagle to a snake about 8 years ago. He was quite a 'hunter' and anything was fair game, and if I hadn't seen him myself I wouldn't have believed it but he had one end of the snake and our Border Collie had the other and before I could do anything (and really what could I have done!) they snapped it in half......they must have done it again because we found a second snake in half a few weeks later, and then on the third attempt when we weren't home the snake must have been attacked only by the one dog and was able to turn and bite him and we found him when we got home and it was too late as he was already dead ....found the snake dead also.

That is very tragic Oceana,

it would have been such a shock to come home to, it's a shame we can't teach them the danger of snakes.

When we got up this morning we heard our dog barking and then a different bark???
Went outside and there was a stray dog at our fence He is pretty friendly and we have rung around all the neighbouring properties but it seems no one is missing him We tied him up twice with rope and he chewed through it so then we had to find some chain to secure him. Have fed and watered him and now looking for his owner. *Sigh* I don't want another dog but is is so sad when they are lost or dumped.

telecom69:- He appears to be in quite good condition, bit skinny but not too bad, and those eyes.....I so don't want them to melt me but we have just been out to him to let him off for a bit of a walk and toileting and he is just so obedient (seems like he is used to being tied up) and then while my husband was untying him he put his paw on his foot and looked up at him as if to say thank you
We live in a farming area that is not heavily populated, so we are hoping we can find his owner, maybe he came off the back of a Ute or the recent lightning has frightened him. Anyway I have made a poster which I will put up at our community post office and see what happens.

Thank you poochee, and a very Happy New Year to you and everyone else too

Good news with the puppy dog, if we can't find the owner a friend of mine has offered to take him to their property so all is looking good if his owner doesn't claim him
