#50 | Finally TWO hot days but now it is overcast and rain is on the way...... The garden continues to surprise me and although 6 weeks ago I cut the lavender back hard it has decided to bloom again and this time it has a stronger perfume - perhaps because it hasn't so many flowers.
The garden has an overall blue colour at the moment as the Caryopteris bushes are also in flower and the Ceanothus has some late blooms too as well as the Agaphanthus. The sweet peas and petunias didn't survive the last lot of storms and have had to go but the dahlias have recovered and hopefully will continue to bloom until October.
When I started this thread I really didn't think many people would be interested in my little garden - it is not very big and doesn't contain exotic plants or unsual species - but I thought it might interest a few people who have left here to live overseas and bring back memories for them. I am truly amazed that over one thousand people have looked at this thread and only hope they have not been too disappointed. My thanks to all of you ....

#53 | Thank you Ladies.....I forgot to put Caryopteris on the second photo - it does look a lot like Lavender doesn't it? Has the advantage though of blooming now and lasts right through the autumn - earns it's keep in a small garden.....regards as ever.....Margaret | | Senior Member with 264 posts. | | Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: south of England Experience: Beginner |

#54 | Today is a truly autumn day - misty start, sunshine this afternoon and a beautiful sunset....what a day to enjoy the garden before the frost arrives.
The Nerines are in full bloom and the dwarf Dahlias have produced a second flush of flowers which are better that those in the summer. The Eucalyptus are growing taller and will provide lovely foliage for the winter flower decorations and the roses are full of tiny little flowers but making up in perfume what they lack in size.
I hope you are all enjoying your gardens wherever you are.........regards Margaret | | Distinguished Member with 66,587 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: California Experience: Intermediate |

#58 | Hello Serena - nice to hear from you. The pink flowers are Nerines - they are late summer - autumn flowering bulbs and bloom for several weeks which makes them ideal for this time of the year.
Kind regards......Margaret | | Junior Member with 16 posts. | | |
