It was a horrid day photography wise at the Abbotsford Airshow yesterday because of the weather conditions but despite that I did enjoy taking my 12 year old nephew to it. The sky changed every few minutes and it was filled with haze and smog which didn't help. The aircraft were between me and the sun and that made it even worse. In any event I'll post some shots here as I get 'em processed. After they are all done I'll post a link to where I've put the rest of them if someone cares to have a look.

You did Good Guy, thanks for sharing.
Next weekend my wife and I are off to see and go up in a Hot Air Balloon.
Hope to get some good shots.

Thanks Barry & Buck....

Buck usually the Thunderbirds or The Blue Angels show up but this year neither of them did. I have seen both many times and love their show. It's awesome and I look forward to seeing your shots.

In the meantime here's a few more of mine....

More great pictures Guy

especially like the last one...

I have also seen the Tbirds and Blue Angels a number of times... this will be the first with a camera worth taking... :-) ... I'm going to take the 70-200 2.8 and a shorter lens for ground stuff... I think my older 80-400 4.5-5.6 vr will be to slow... but I might make the girl friend carry it just in case... :-)

I regret getting rid of my 70 - 200 2.8 IS because of the weather around here. I thought the 100 - 400 would be ideal for aircraft stuff and it is but it likes tons of light and that's something we've been short on this year. I'm interested in seeing your shots. I have been toying with the idea of getting another and it might make me go out and get it. The 2.8 is also a nice bird lens providing you can get close enough.

I took about 430 pictures at the airshow and in the end I might keep 20. It's a shame that there isn't a way to save them........................

Here's the last batch I'll post before I start dumping them.

Thanks for the great pictures!

And I'd like to contribute with something.. a little bit different: Maefin Top Fun - a nice Italian ultralight (less than 450KG MTOW), made of steel and fabric.

Hope you'll like it.

hawkuletz, That looks like a pretty well equipped little craft. More like a light aircraft than a real ultra light. It even has flaps !. Neat little plane !.
Guyzer, that wing walking bi-plane is a little different than past aerobatic aircraft - Stearmans -- Wacos ect. Its a AG-plane , I believe a Grumman Ag-Cat.
Beautiful photos as usual ! >f

>f you are correct. It's real name is Grumman Schweizer G-164A but better known as a Grumman G-164A Super Ag-Cat. Here's a little history..............

" Grumman designed the G-164 in the 1950s and it first flew on January 20, 1959. Grumman sold this and other programs to American Jet Industries in 1978. The new company was named Gulfstream American Corporation, but in early 1981 the program was sold to Schweizer who was a sub-contractor for many years. The G-164A numbered 1325 aircraft."

According to the airshow announcer it is the first one to be used for aerobatics and he put on quite the show before picking up the wing walker. I have stopped by the side of the road many times to watch crop sprayers do their stuff. Amazing pilots they are, and a bit nutz as well.
