Low Level Jets
Whilst I'm waiting for Superantispyware to do its stuff (thanks, Cheeseball!), I thought I would take the time to share some of my low level digital work with everyone. If I get sky in the shot, it's a bad picture!

Hi Barry,

Canon 350D (I think it's known as the Rebel XTi in the States), coupled with a 100-400mm Image Stabilised L series lens. The lens helps enormously, plus the fact I climb hillsides to get above the aircraft and then sit and wait!

Cheers,

Hello Barry , looks like we share a love of aviation!.
I post photos of aircraft for others pleasure { I save them myself} but I don't take them , no skill in that regard.
Your photos are impressive as you take them yourself --and they are excellent!. If I had a place in hills where I could just watch , see what you see -I would be happy!.
It would be interesting to know how you got interested in aviation and photography? ---you do an outstanding job.
If you have some Jaguar photos --that would be cool , and the {new} Typhoon ??? please post if you get a chance!. I am sure lots of people would appreciate it, besides myself.
Thank you for those posted ! >f

Forgot ! If you decide to stay awhile you might want to visit my thread >>>
http://forums.techguy.org/photo-albu...s-website.html.
I enjoy posting photos , I just love aircraft.
I am pilot , not current. I have many hours in nearly 20 types --but all single engine light aircraft--no jets or anything expensive! .
I just like chatting about those, as I am --have always been interested.
Then -- there is guyzers thread . He is a great photographer and enthusist
Lot of good things there . >>>>

Hello Fidelista,

I'm not Barry, but I am the one who took these shots, dragging his butt up hillsides in England, Wales and Scotland in the pursuit of pictures like these! I've had a look at both aviation threads here - impressive pictures and some memorable types.

To answer your questions, I got into aviation early - around 4 years old - when my mother bought me Airfix kits of aeroplanes every weekend in an attempt to keep me quiet! It sort of spiraled out of control from there - 36 years later I'm Assistant Editor of a local magazine for aircraft enthusiasts in the NE of England (a hobby, not a paid job, unfortunately). The photography aspect stemmed from attending airshows in my teens, whilst the low-level bug bit around five years ago when I discovered it was possible to get shots looking down onto aircraft rather than the usual 'belly' shots. Much more dramatic in most cases - and combines my love of hillwalking too.

Jaguars have eluded me (and especially now since they've all but been retired with only the Qinetic ones still flying), but Typhoons are a different matter. I've enclosed one shot taken at an airshow in the UK during July in the Lake District (NW England) - I managed to find a spot on the other side of the lake the aircraft were flying down during the display. I expect to obtain closer shots of the 'Phoons as they do more low-level work in the valleys.

I've also attached a shot of the Red Arrows at the same airshow - can't be many places where you don't get sky behind a display team manoeuvre!

Cheers,

Graeme - Newcastle upon Tyne
