Have to agree Pat,these are pretty special photos just how you managed to get the bird posed like that,I cant imagine ...they are in my eyes just about perfect photos ...its as if the bird knew and was sitting for you

Its regarded as a special event if any are seen over here,the bird watchers(twitters) go crazy about it think that beak tells you what they eat and its not seed they call them Shrikes here ...well done on your capture and thanks so much for sharing them

Great shots Pat... Black colored birds are tough to get but you done 'em proud. Bokeh is nice as well.

Thanks Telecom for your feedback.

I have seen these birds in action and beleive me they are brutal with small birds they use the fork of a branch slide them between the fork and hang them then the beak takes care of the rest.

Bokeh that was a new word to me ...never heard it before ever ..had to look it up to see what it meant and think I now see what it means that was the something new I learned today

Was a very cold Morning - 0.7 but the lake was beautiful most birds out of camera reach the one's we wanted , still cant be lucky all the time.
