I found these little guys today attached to the back of our woodshed.

Nice shots Gerry,

They look like European Wasps & usually build inside walls or under wood heaps etc. here, they have a nasty sting & can get into drinks at BBQ's & can be fatal in some circumstances.

If you want to get rid of them you need to wait 'til dusk cover yourself & head & use red cellophane over a torch & sprinkle Baygon over the nest & they will carry it inside on their feet & the colony should die, otherwise get a professional.

I'm fairly sure they are "Asian Paper Wasps" Yvonne. They don't seem aggressive so I don't think I'll bomb them just yet

So long as they behave they can stay

Yes they seem skinnier than the European wasps that have invaded us the last ten years or so. I've seen the European ones scraping the surface of our wooden fences to make their nests.

It's been a lot of fun watching them for the last day or two Yvonne.
I find them strangely beautiful, and thank them for not stinging me while I take their pictures
It's amazing what we can find in our own back yard.
