By the way, Melissa's computer crashed recently and she lost all her email contacts so if anybody wants to connect with her I advise you to PM her your email addy.

#66 | jimbo, I was (am) in the same boat as you; older dude, not really expecting to be a dad, et voila, mother nature let me know the true way of things. You know me, and you know how I think; I found this to be a very good book to read.
I would highly recommend it. Doubly highly, as you didn't even know what swaddling was.
heck, even I knew that, and I'm just a dumb hick from colorado.

#68 | you just take care of yourself, little one.....jim's a capable guy, just inherently lazy. This is not a bad thing; it's a guy thing. Why else would we have an 'eject' button on the DVD remote? Still have to get up and walk over there and get the damn disk; but we can save a step by ejecting whilst sitting on our butts.
Like I said, a guy thing. But he's eminently capable. You just put your feet up and rest; that is the best thing you can do; having gone through 2 very difficult pregnancies (one with my wife, one with her best friend), I can firmly state that you need to take it easy, and let Jim handle damn near everything.

#69 | Melissa & Jim, was browsing through the "Canadian Group" and noticed that you were having trouble with finding a name...have you got it figured out yet? Because honestly, you are a bit early in the game to be so concerned about names--you don't even know if it's a boy or girl yet!! Plus, it's not good to get worked up in this stage of the pregnancy--or at least that's what they told me...
If you are feeling tired, go for a short walk and then take a nap--it always worked for me. That way I got in some exercise and wore myself out enough that I could actually get a nap in, instead of laying in bed thinking of all the things that I probably should be doing around the house, homework, or whatever else that kept me from getting some rest.
Also, yogurt is your friend!! Even if you don't like the stuff--if you can choke it down once or twice a day, you'll be glad you did. Loaded with calcium, helps keep your systems going like they should, and otherwise good for you...trust me on this one. Besides, there's only so many glasses of milk one person can choke down in a day! (And I LOVE milk! )
I'll try and give more tips as I think of them...I had one of those awful pregnancies, (high risk, "morning" sickness for 8.5 months) so anything that made my life easier is bound to do the same for you!

I am going to try and rest as much as I can but I do get a bit bored from time to time I can only sit for so long. I have been getting Jim to do the cooking of the meat and I say something and he's up an off before I finish the sentence. | | Distinguished Member with 10,887 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2002 Location: Calgary Experience: Getting by ;) |

The name thing was a joke a first and then we got serious. The names that we have come up with are Zoe Rhea and Liam Issac.
As for the milk I could drink 4L jug a day . And I do have yogurt as much as I think of it. I am trying to eat more veggies and fruit but I feel bloated as soon as I eat. So I try to eat lots of little meals instead of 3 normal meals.
