Screen help

I just recently installed Windows 7 and everything worked fine until there was a black border around my screen. My resolution was on the highest on 1080p and also the latest drivers, i then used catalyst control centre to overscan the screen which stretched it out perfect but it doesn't work on applications though. Can someone please help me.

1080p equates to 1920x1080 resolution. Is that the native resolution of the monitor you're using?
If it isn't, you need to lower the resolution to the monitor's native values. then the image should fill the whole screen exactly.
If it is already set at the monitor's correct (native) resolution, then you may need to adjust the height and width of the display using the monitor's built-in adjustments buttons. The buttons usually drive an on-screen menu system.
